Some criminal bosses who were disgruntled with the way Senator-elect Leila de Lima carried out her job as Justice Secretary want her dead, according to a report by Inquirer.net.
Quoting a source “who had an intimate knowledge of the drug trade,” Inquirer.net said De Lima’s name is included in the list of politikos who some big-time crime and drug lords want to neutralize. Topping the kill list is President-elect Rodrigo Duterte and incoming police chief Ronald Dela Rosa, whose heads carry a P1-billion bounty.
The series of raids De Lima launched inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) led to the discovery of luxury “kubols” where some wealthy inmates live like kings.
The raid has resulted in the transfer of 19 high-profile inmates to a highly-secured facility controlled by the National Bureau of Investigation.
Another government official who crime bosses reportedly want to be killed is Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Ricardo Rainier Cruz III.
Cruz made the raids conducted inside the NBP regular, calling them “Oplan Galugad.”
The bounty for the deaths of De Lima and Cruz are unknown.
