The House minority bloc has challenged Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to finally reveal the financiers and other players in the two failed coup attempts during the Arroyo administration.
House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez said it has been more than a decade but the Magdalo group under Trillanes was still mum over personalities involved in the failed Oakwood mutiny in July 2002 and the Manila Peninsula siege in 2007.
“Pakisagot niya ulit. Uulitin ko, sino ang nag pondo ng Oakwood?” said Suarez.
Suarez said Trillanes has yet to reveal other personalities behind the Oakwood Mutiny despite given amnesty in 2010.
Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza also said the personalities behind the Magdalo group should be punished since they influenced young military officers to break away from the chain of command and challenge the authority of the sitting administration.
“Maraming pahirap si Trillanes eh. Hindi niya sinagot (kung sino ang nag pondo sa kanila sa Magdalo group), said Atienza.
Atienza also reminded Trillanes of the European proverb “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones” which literally means “One who is vulnerable to criticism should not criticize others.”
“[Sen. Trillanes should remember], he who lives in a glass house, should not be throwing stones against his neighbor. [It’s a] payback time [for Trillanes]. Sagutin na lang niya yung allegation nung kanyang favorite na kalaban. Marami naman siyang ibinabato kay Pangulo. Ngayon, magpataasan sila ng IQ,” said Atienza.
Trillanes is facing an impending arrest from authorities after Malacañang last Tuesday (September 4) revoked his amnesty grant through Presidential Proclamation 572.
The former rebel soldier volunteered to be placed under the custody of the Senate following the revocation of his amnesty and while waiting for the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision on his appeal to junk Duterte’s proclamation.
