During the resumption of the Senate hearing on alleged extra-judicial killings today, Senator Vicente Sotto III asked Bato Dela Rosa the latest statistics regarding the anti-drug campaign.
According to the PNP Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, there are 22, 387 arrested while there are 1,375 people were killed during buy-bust operations who have attempted to fight against the policemen.
On the other note, Sen. Sotto believes the Philippine National Police deserves to be commended for their determination in eradicating the use of illegal drugs in the Philippines. Despite the PNP’s efforts, the International Media only highlights the killings happened in our country that saddens Sen. Sotto
Around five person lang yung lumalaban, pero yun lang ang hina-highlight ng international media, yung lumalaban na napapatay. Hindi nila hina-highlight, they have not highlighted the fact that you had 22, 387 arrests in this drug war, with 23,374 operations only from July 1 to the present. Sen. Sotto
In fact, Senator Sotto recalls how he burst out ten years ago in the Congress that we need to fight illegal drug trades and yet, nobody listened to him.
In the last 10 years before that, sigaw ako nang sigaw sa Senate floor. Kaya ako nagmamaktol dito sa Senate floor, halos every Congress mga anim o pito ang privilege speech ko tungkol sa gobyerno na labanan yung droga, walang nangyayari. Pasok ditto, labas dito.
Kaya itong nangyayaring ito ngayon, I am very interested with these statistics. You actually deserve congratulations.
