Former President Benigno S. Aquino III would rather stay out of politics after leaving Malacañang but he said one of his sisters is more than capable of keeping their family name alive in the world of public service.
Aquino pointed to his elder sister, Aurora Corazon ‘Pinky’ Abellada, as someone ‘available’ to run for president in the next elections now that her two children have graduated from college and already joined the work force.
“I looked at the Consitution and it says a president who has served cannot stand for any reelection. But if you still need (someone) from our family, si Pinky is available,” Aquino said while delivering an impromptu speech at the Manila Memorial Park (MMP) in Parañaque City, Monday (August 1).
“She (Pinky) has demonstrated her abilities with the school building programs. Kaya I’m sure… Kita naman ninyo gaano kalumanay kanina magsalita. Tiningnan ko nga dalawang beses, si Pinky pala ‘yung nagsasalita…” he added.
Of course, Aquino made the remarks in jest just to amuse his family and friends who gathered at the MMP to commemorate the seventh death anniversary of their late mother, former President Corazon Aquino
