One of the priests who celebrated Mass to pray for Senator Antonio Trillanes IV made a controversial statement against President Rodrigo Duterte that sparked outrage among the supporters of the government.
The priest, who identified as Father Noel Gatchalian wished something bad for the President and accused Duterte of disrespecting the Catholic Church.
He said that he prayed that Duterte will get sick, so he can finally rest in his job as the President of the Philippines.
Sabi ko o sige magdasal, kaya pinagdasal ko na magkasakit si Digong,” said Father Noel Gatchalian during a Mass for Trillanes’ supporters held outside his office in the Senate building.
“‘Di ba sabi niya pagod na siya? Eh di magpahinga muna siya,” he added.
The people who attended the mass laughed at the shocking statement of the priest.
Gatchalian said that he’s patient to wait for his prayers against Duterte happen.
In a short message, Special Assistant to President Christopher “Bong” Go responded to Gatchalian’s remark against Duterte.
“Patawarin sana ang pari ng panginoon.” Go said.
Some Duterte supporters also slammed Gatchalian for praying bad against the President.
Netizen Sahad Andal Jr. said.
Karet Ting said.
Trillanes who faces possible arrest because of the nullification of amnesty that he received in 2011.
He’s now seeking a sanctuary in the Senate building after Senate President Vicente Sotto disallowed to arrest his colleague inside the premises of the Senate.
The Catholic Church also had a rift with the President and Duterte even ridiculed the “God” of the priests who criticized his policies in fighting crime and corruption.
